Mission

To foster a culture of belonging, healing, and empowerment for Asians moving through extraordinary states of consciousness.

We achieve this by forging community, reclaiming our healing practices and spiritual traditions, sharing culturally attuned resources and support, destigmatizing mental health challenges and drug use within the Asian community, and illuminating and amplifying our presence in the broader psychedelic landscape.

We strive to ensure we are seen and heard; cherished and safe.

This work of collective healing, reconciliation, and celebration is rooted in affirming our unique joys and struggles and honoring our lands and peoples as part of an expression of interdependence and mutuality with all beings.

VISION

To uplift Asians within a life-affirming psychedelic landscape that honors diversity and biocultural intelligence and celebrates those who have stewarded and supported healing practices and the exploration of extraordinary states of consciousness for time immemorial.

Through this powerful connection, we will co-create a beloved healing community that honors the deepest roots of earth medicine and psychedelic culture; respects the richness of our myriad identities; acknowledges the historical legacies that shape us; and—with love and humility—fosters a culture of care for all.

VALUES

“We urgently need to bring to our communities the limitless capacity to love, serve, and create for and with each other.”

Chinese American civil rights activist Grace Lee Boggs

APC strives to foster this limitless capacity for love, service, and creativity within psychedelics and the broader landscape of expanded consciousness through a vibrant, supportive space tended by, and spoken through, the many voices that comprise Asian identities.

We recognize substances and practices that foster extraordinary states of consciousness are powerful paths to growth, healing, celebration, and transformation. We are committed to safe and supported exploration and usage. Our engagement, outreach, and advocacy is grounded in Thích Nhất Hạnh‘s concept of interbeing: We are not only interconnected, but entangled—mutually caused. We seek to nurture loving relationships with ourselves, our communities, our places of origin, and with the ecosystems that nourish and sustain us.

APC is a signatory to the North Star Ethics Pledge and strongly supports its seven principles. In addition, the following values guide our decisions and interactions …

JOY

We embrace celebration, without forgetting our sacrifice.

BELONGING

We affirm, welcome, and support all minoritized, marginalized, oppressed, and othered communities. While we center Asians in our work and spaces of collective care, we recognize healing and liberation are the collective gift and responsibility of us all. We hold this awareness as a touchstone for our work and engagement.

SUPPORT

Asians are underrepresented in clinical trials, training, and leadership in psychedelics, and under-resourced in culturally sensitive journey support, integration, and education. We address this by championing increased access; challenging stigmas around mental health and psychedelic use; and working in solidarity with organizations committed to addressing historic and systemic oppression.

HEALING

We honor the courage of all who ally with psychedelics and recognize the potential for both healing and harm. We approach conscious-altering substances with respect and humility. We are committed to harm reduction informed by science, cultural knowledge, and lived experience, and work to co-create safer spaces in which psychedelics can be explored.

ACCEPTANCE

The tenets around the set and setting of psychedelic experiences exist within a “matrix”—the environment from which one comes prior to psychedelic experience, in which one lives during the experience, and to which one returns after.

We acknowledge the complex intersectionalities that our communities hold and strive to accept our full humanities without judgment.

INTEGRITY

Psychedelics are part of an evolving, often underground landscape. We are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of our community members, while fostering a culture of trust, transparency, accountability, and consent.

CURIOSITY

We approach self-inquiry and engagement with the Asian community and the world at large with curiosity and hope for growth and deepened connection.
